#25 Cook a meal from scratch

Yes I did just this.. It was actually pretty darn good.

**Cheesy Fajita Chicken Quesidillas*
1 Pkg of Chicken
1 pkg of Flour Tortillas (burrito size)
1 can of Black beans (drained)
1 green bell pepper
1 red bell pepper
1 sweet onion
Shredded Cheese (Mexican style)
any seasoning you want to add to the chicken while cooking

So you start off -
Cut your bell peppers and onions in strips
Then clean and cut your chicken into cubes or keep whole and cook in skillet until lightly browned -take chicken out and leave excess oil and juices in skillet - you may need to put extra oil in. I add sugar to the skillet to caramelize my onions and peppers but you don;t have to. Add the bell peppers and onion until tender crisp, then add the black beans along with your cut up chicken. Let everything saute in skillet for about 10-15 min. you can add some water - so the chicken does not dry out.

In another pan you can start your flour tortilla, add enough cheese to cover the entire tortilla and then some.. Once the chicken mixture is done to your liking take a few scoops and put on tortilla(off to one side) - once the cheese is melted and the tortilla is slightly browned/crisp you need to fold over one half of the tortilla and use your spatula to smush it down. and WAHLA!!! you have a Cheesy Fajita Chicken Quesidilla YUM!!

I took some pics, but they really don't do this yummy quick meal any justice.

but just to show that I really did do this - as easy as it was I still did it from scratch and worked with what food i had in the house at the time. :0)

#15 - Take one Mommy Day a Month

I forgot to blog about this - but last weekend I finally got my Mommy day.. it wasn't much but anything is nice these days.
I used to go and get my nails done all the time - no big deal-I could go whenever I wanted.. Well not anymore- I have to make sure I have someone to watch T and well having my nails done lately just isn't a necessity.. I do like having them done and John likes them done since I scratch his back.. hahah anyway - so last weekend on Sat I finally told John he needed to watch the kiddo so I could go and do them..
It was a pretty relaxing hour- but man - the only thing I hate about getting a new full set after not having them for awhile is the fact that your hands kill, well not your hands but your fingers.. UGH they hurt so bad by the time I went to bed I was ready to take some Tylenol to help with the throbbing.. Does that ever happen to you? It sucks!!
They turned out really cute and they were ready for our Photo shoot on Sunday we did. Which was nice.. :0)
1 mommy day down. alot more to go!!!

~Pro Pics~

I'm really excited about these. 1. because Shelly my photog who did all of my photos from maternity all the way through too my Wedding was shooting these and 2. because this will finish out his baby album that she will be making for us- including his, newborn, three month and now 1 year pics. I'm really excited!! Shelly does such an amazing job and she is soo fun and easy to work with.
HA- I should shoot myself in the foot for even braving this heat- but when you live in Az you do whatcha ya gotta do!! So John, Me and T woke up early Sat. Morning and of course it was pretty much the hottest day of the year!! 115 to be exact! Well we were hoping for some relief in the morning shoot- but psh- there isn't such a thing as relief! 95 degrees is not relief..
anyway - we met up with Shelly at a park and it was actually a pretty cool park - it had a HUGE awning over it and it was totally shaded, instead of the rubberized or sand for the playground it was wood chips which were cool! Tristan of course LOVED it!! He wanted to taste them.

So we let him go and have fun, I brought his wagon and trucks to play with and Shelly got some really great shots!!

I also decided I wanted to get T his own personal cake and go to town with it at the end of our shoot.. so I went to Safeway figuring there cake could, just "maybe" be way better than Fry's cake.. OH MY lord when I saw the cake they had made I was like " I am not paying for that", the girl looked at me like I insulted her and shit I probably did! it was horrible - nothing like what I had pictured in my head or even close to what I had requested. The icing was melting off - the puffed balloons or what ever they were fell off - the lady said well I can fix it- Hahah okay fix it but I'm not paying for that.. So I paid 3 bucks for an 8 dollar 4in cake..!! I was so peeved by this time- that by the time I got home it looked like a freakin train wreck! Seriously my nephew could have did a better job!! I was so mad, upset and pissed that I went out and got cake mix and decided to brave the cake making my self!! Mine wasn't horrible, but it was a HECK of alot better than Safeway's master piece!!
so that's the story behind the cake - Tristan still enjoyed it until his daddy thought it would be cool to hurry the process up and smush some of it in his face.. Tristan was not HAPPY!! hahah
So the Photo shoot went really well - I don't think I've sweat so much in my life and I had a pool of boob sweat- it was pretty attractive!!
I leave you with some pics that Shelly got up the same day!! she's FAST!! this would be why I love her!!

**Falling behind**

So lets start off with Tristan's First Birthday party!! Wow did we have a good time - it was HOT like sizzling hot- but everyone who came had a great time!! They were swimmin, eatin, drinkin and chatting it up!! Tristan had a blast as well-He absolutely LOVES the water- I'm so glad to because I'm not sure it would be cool of he wasn't a water baby--the summers John and I are staked out by the pool or lake!! So T better get used to it- and no worries there he's all for it!!

So anyway- He received A TON of gifts- holy crap - I told John we need a bigger house just to house all of the dang toys! Seriously.. and these toys aren't just rattles and small things they are huge trucks, tonka trucks, a Kawasaki ride on quad, so many others.. and a alot of noise makers! I will for sure take those out when those people who thought it would be funny to purchase them for us.. they will come out when they babysit!! So I'm just going to show you a few pics of how everything went down.. :0) Enjoy..
By the way they aren't in any sort of order- I tried but lost my patience!!

John, Me and T- Construction Trucks was the Theme..

Me and My Sister gettin the food ready
T's Ready for Swimming...

Time for Cake!! He had so much fun and dug right in!!

Until he was done and it was all over from here!!
It was an okay cake, but we made due.. It all went so I was happy about that!!
Time to open presents, and Mommy got to open them all by myself!! Woohooo...

T and Grammy- after T got out of the water - for the 3rd time!!
The picture frame mat I made for T- I'm going to put it in his scrapbook..
Swimmin again and sooo ready for a nap!!
Tristan did so well for running on a two hour nap!! He was zonked out by the time we hit the first turn out of my Mom's driveway on our way home.. :0)

We went for T's 12 month Well check.. Yes shots were included and they weren't the regular ones, these ones hurt and my poor lil dude was not so happy.. :( MMR, Chickenpox and I can't think of the other one..

~***Tristan's 1st Birthday***~ #77

Today is T's 1st Birthday- I can't even believe it- I feel like it was such a short time ago that I had him. I mean, I look back at last year and I can remember everything leading up to Tristan arriving, the time, the scenery, it just seems so surreal.
Tristan was a stubborn little butt for sure. I went through 30 hours of labor, and ended up with a c-section just to get this stinker out. Tristan arrived at 6:28am and I have been in love ever since. I'm so happy and proud to be his Mom - on days that are frustrating or the days he's whiny, and crying I have to remind myself of all the good days we have and the love I have for him overshadows all these temper tantrums and crying fits. I'm excited to see what the next year holds for him and us. I'm excited for him to learn, developmentally, and physically - start walking, talking etc.. this next year in his life will be another chapter in our lives with new things to come, new places to go and explore and do what little boys do best and that's makes messes and get dirty!! I'm ready for it~

Tristan goes in on Monday for his 1 year well check- so I will update all of his stats as soon as I know.
As far as what he does and how far he's come since last month- lets see here.
He says: Uh oh, dato=dog, ishy, Mom, dada, tries to say juice but its hard to come up with a word that comes out of his mouth to type up, shews=shoes, out sounds like ut.., whoaaaaa, shhhhh (but I think he trys to say shut up because he only says that after we tell are obnoxious dogs to shut up from barking) and the scariest of them all- the one word all parents DON'T look forward to in there son or daughter's vocabulary... "NO"
(well just wonderful- now we are in trouble)
He's cruising: He cruises the couches and coffee tables, the bed, anything he can pull himself up on he's willing to try and then take steps.
He's crawling at the speed of lightening, you think you have a sec or two to get to something before he will actually get there and your soooo wrong. when you least expect it he's already there making a mess with the dog bowls, trying to eat the dog food, getting into the shoes, tearing apart your Tupperware cabinet, taking all of his clothes out of the bottom of his drawers, and many other things.
Bottles and sippy cups: He's drinking out of his sippy cup like a pro. with juice and water only. Milk is going to be a challenge I can already feel it. He's not so keen on the texture and I have tried to warm it, keep it somewhat cool and then straight form the fridge and none of these he is taking to.. So my plan as of right now is to keep him on his formula but put it in sippy cup until I can get him completely weaned to milk- I really don't see any harm in keeping him on it - I will not be doing this until after the birthday party on Sat. though. Probably Sunday we will be transitioning. I would like him to be off bottle completely and I'm pretty sure the only way to do this is to get rid of them all together. (I'm not so sure if that's going to go so well).
The Binky: So I have been pretty avid about him coming off the bink when he turned one, but suddenly T has become EXTREMELY attached to that sucker. and I'm kinda nervous considering i had 4 and I seem to missing 3?? I am left with one. I almost bought more and stopped myself and was like uh hello what are you doing.. so I put them down.
I'm not sure how taking away the bink is going to go over- It has become his safeguard and my weapon against crying and whining. so I'm torn on this one. I DON'T want to be that mother with the kid that has a pacifier still in his mouth at the age of 2, 3, 4 or 5 years old!! That's just not going to happen. So I need to come up with a plan..
So I'm in awww over the fact that my lil man is ONE, he's turning into this little independent self -doing things on his own, and growing up faster than I think I would like- but on the other hand I'm loving this stage in his life. He's such a character, the sounds he makes, the talking he does, the gestures, the faces he makes are just so silly. He carries on conversations with you and its fun to talk back to him and then to have him respond as if he really knows what he's talking about. I love the fact that when we are at home and John walks through the door - Tristan's eyes LIGHT up.. I know john has got to love that moment as well. How could you not? After a long day at work and then being able to come home to your Son who is so absolutely thrilled to see him who shrieks and giggles and just goes nutz .. AMAZING!!!
My little baby went from this:

Born: July 9, 2008 @ 6:28am
7lbs 12oz and 21 1/2" in.
to this:

Pretty Cool if you ask me!!!

#81 Cloth Diapering *gDiapers*

Have you heard of them?

Well all this talk about cloth diapering made me do some more research. Now before Tristan was born - I had thought about doing cloth diapering- I never asked questions and I researched it maybe 5 or 6 times while I was pregnant - Now let me also remind you that I was not an avid blogger at the time either (this is where much of my new found research has taken place) - so I had no access to this "Blog" world. I figured cloth diapering would be a hassle, too expensive and who really does cloth diapering?? Well apparently alot of people do; and apparently cloth diapering IS NOT what it used to be when my Mom was my age!!

So as of now I have Tristan in regular diapers, LUVS to be exact and I do like them, they don't leak, cause marks on his legs.. etc... cheaper than pampers and huggies.
But- what I don't like is the diaper rashes he receives. I'm not saying they are from the diaper itself, shoot who knows it could be but, most of the time its from him having a bowel movement while sleeping and it sitting on his bum all night.. Tristan had a very bad diaper rash about 2 weeks ago and when I say bad it was red, raw, hurt to clean, touch and even hurt to put ointment on except reg unscented Vaseline. I felt so bad for him. So the research started up again about cloth diapering - Tristan will be one on Thursday so I figured maybe this will also help with potty training him???

There are quite a few cloth diapering sites and cloth diapering makers out there - a little overwhelming at first- and this could have possibly been the reasons I strayed away as well.
I stumbled upon- gDiapers.. Okay so not exactly "cloth diapering" to the full extent. The diapers are still cloth though? Its the best of both worlds. In my opinion

I'm just going to C&P. and let you be the judge..
gDiapers loves the Earth.
For the last 40 years there have been but two choices in diapers. Cloth or disposable. That’s it. Now gDiapers offers a third option. Flushable. gDiapers puts waste where it belongs, in the toilet. Not the landfill.
gDiapers have no elemental chlorine, no perfumes, no smell, no garbage and no guilt. In fact, our
flushable diapers are so gentle on the Earth you can even garden compost the wet ones in one compost cycle, approximately 50 – 150 days. Just think of the standing ovation you’ll get from the planet.
Cradle to Cradle.
Why are gDiapers good for the planet? It is simple. Our flushables are designed using the Cradle to Cradle design principles of Bill McDonough and his firm MBDC. That means everything that goes into one of our flushables gets re-absorbed back into the eco-system in a neutral or beneficial way. So you are turning waste into a resource. At the same time, you are putting poop in the toilet, where it belongs, and avoiding the landfill issue all together. We appreciate there is a lot of information in this section, but we want to make sure that parents who are concerned about the earth feel their questions and concerns are answered, and backed up with independent scientific research. For us, it is all about being Fair Dinkum. You can also feel free to contact us…we love talking diapers!
*Cradle to Cradle CertifiedCM is a certification mark of
MBDC.

So anyway that's the jist of the gDiaper- If you want you can visit there website for more information and watch some videos about there product.
http://www.gdiapers.com/

I'm not saying this is the way to go- but this is the route I'm going to attempt to take. I would rather do something than nothing to benefit the earth. The fact that I use disposable diapers, knowing that they sit in a landfill for 500+ years, Kills me...

So as I enter this world of cloth diapering, disposables and Gdiapers, knowing that all 3 of them have a good and a bad side to them.. Its the step I'm going to take for myself and for my kid/s.

I will review them once I get them.. I'm pretty excited..
